As a man, I learned.

I bought this book because I love to hear the stories of others. The problem with this book was that it had no stories, Rupi encapsulates you in an experience. I bought this to read to my significant other, I thought it may be just another pleasantry to share, but as I read it to her, I got so lost in the experience that I forgot that there was a person next to me. Feeling like it was an out-of-body type experience, I learned, and at the end of the day, I'll be a better father, son, brother, and lover because of it. So I thank the artist. Truly a pleasure.

love, and loss

The style reminds me of a grownup Shel Silverstein book, had Shel covered abuse, love, and loss. Some of the poems hit harder than others, but overall it's worth a read. The book can be read cover to cover in a sitting, so commitment is minimal.

��������� Moving through some very hard hitting and emotional subjects, this collection of poetry leaves one raw.� Divided into four chapters, each reveals a different pain, or heals it.� Some are uplifting, empowering even.... and some are dark and leave one troubled.� Joining some of these poems are sketches and drawings that I rather liked.
����������� My Thoughts:
���������I have noticed that this is a book you either love or hate.� It is getting a lot of chatter on Goodreads and Litsy, not all of it good.� A lot of people are saying they were "underwhelmed".� For me, this could not be further from the truth.� Now granted, there were parts that were easier to get through than others (trigger warning, we discuss rape and abuse).� Now, as it is free-verse it does not have the rhyme scheme that a lot of people are looking for (insisted at she "just put words down" no poetic devices.) The lack of rhyme, though does not indicate the lack of poetry.� For myself, I loved this book.� It made me sad, angry, and happy... all the feelings.� I loved how she expressed herself, how she shared so much of what we all try to hide.� This was real, raw, and sometimes terrifying.� Five Stars!�
On the adult content scale, I have to give it a nine.� There was quite a bit of sexual content, not all of it consensual.� This is definitely geared toward adults
