Info in this book is saving my dogs life

I have a cocker spaniel that is highly allergic to wheat, soy, oat, flax. Most prepared dog foods contain some or all of these items. If she eats any of these foods she gets a bloody diarrhea. What to feed her? The information in this book guided me on how to make well balanced dog meals excluding the killer items. On the homemade dog food formula she is a happy, healthy 13 year old dancing for joy when it is meal time. If you have an animal (cat, dog or other) with gastrointestinal/nutritional problems you need this book. It is a life saver.

Very good text on the subject of Small Animal Clinical Nutrition

I am not an expert in this field, but on the topics I have read there is some discussion of different points of view on diet, for example for diabetes in a dog. Or discussion of pre-prepared dog food (canned and dry, etc.) vs. making it at home or a raw diet. It does not give you easy answers because there are none, but the discussion is complete enough that you could make a decision or have a basis to explore further.
This isn't just on basic nutrition but addresses many disorders and stages of life, also. There is a section of 3 chapters on "Feeding Small Mammals, Reptiles and Birds." There are 27 appendices and an index, plus a guide to the case studies in the front of the book.
I am not in the medical field but find this well-written, and if there were any terms I could not understand, could look them up. I bought a pre-owned copy of this so I didn't break the bank buying this.
By the way, you can find the chapters in pdf format on the internet if you want to preview the book or are only interested in one or two topics. If you are going to practice in this field, I'd strongly recommend buying the book.

This book is like a bible to nutritionists. I'm glad there was a new edition and am grateful to have one in my possession.
