About the Author
Written by veteran broadcaster Angela Allen, who spent the first 20 years of her working life in private sector broadcast communications before starting her job as a claims rep with Social Security in 2005. She has two masters degrees from the University of Southern Indiana, was a member of AFGE and is a member of SAG! She left SSA in 2013 to publish this book (and now has many more books)! Angela writes and speaks on Social Security benefits (retirement, strategies, disability, etc.). A self-described "Social Security benefits wonk," Angela strongly feels for front-line field office staff and ALSO for the public they serve. SSA field offices are increasingly strained by overwhelming workloads and dwindling personnel and resources. She'd like to see Congress authorize the hiring of at LEAST 15,000 new Social Security field office employees. And veterans would be PERFECT! Practical and easy to use guide.

I found this book very easy to follow and filled with practical advice on the essential "how to" methods of claiming and receiving the benefits that are rightly yours. Easy to read and understand, clearly written and organized. You can tell as you read this book the author has worked on the inside and is sharing the information that would not otherwise be easily found.

Book gives some good insight

Book is written by a lady who worked for a company who fights for benefits and takes all of the steps needed to help out someone who is trying to get benefits. She gives a lot of insight information and the book was written in 2013 so is current. She gives web sites to go to as well.

Fantastic View From Within Social Security Administration from a former claims rep

This is a superb book written from an insider's point of view. It is written in a conversational tone and is very easy to read. It is the one book you will want to refer to as you move through the disability appeals or application process. This book also contains helpful and easy to use advice with regard to other issues one may encounter. For example, there is a very extensive section on how to handle an over-payment appeal. Additionally, there is a very insightful look at the disability process with regard to a child applications. Hold on to this book. It may very well be the key to success in your dealings with the Social Security Administration.
